Famous WW1 books:

ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT
Author       Erich Maria Remarque

All Quiet on the Western Front is about a German Veteran of WW1. It shows all the physical and mental stress he had during the Great War( WW1 ).
Main Characters; Tjaden, Albert, Kat, Westus, Mueller and Paul.


PRIVATE PEACEFUL
Author Michael Morpurgo

Is a story of a young boy on the frontline.  He was there as he wanted to be with his older brother.  He was too young to enlist.
During nightwatch in the battlefeilds he goes over his life and how each minute is bringing him closer to danger.
Main Characters; Tommo Peaceful, Grandma Wolf, Molly, Big Joe Peaceful, Sergeant Hanley

BIRDSONG
Author       Sebastian Faulks

Birdsong tells of a man named Stephan Wraysford before, during and after the WW1. Written in 1993. 
Main Characters; Stephan Wraysford, Jack Firebrace, Isabelle and Rene Azaire. 



WAR HORSE
Author      Michael Morpurgo

Set in rural England and Europe in WW1 it is about a horse called Joey and a man called Albert.  Albert trains him.  They are parted by the war, the horse being sold to France.  The horse gets caught up in the war and and the story follows as the horse moves throughout the war.  Albert is too young to join the army and goes on a dangerous mission to bring the horse home.

FALL OF GIANTS
Author       Ken Follett

This is an epic of love, hatred, war and revolution. It follows five families through WW1, Russian Revolution and the struggle for the women vote.
Main Characters; The Fitzherbert family with the main character nicknamed Fitz.

Author       Ernest Hemingway

A Farewell to Arms is a novel set during the Italian Campaign of World War 1.
Main Characters; Catherine Barkley, Frederic Henry and The Priest.




LINE OF FIRE DIARY OF AN UNKNOWN SOLDIER
Author       Barroux     Introduced by Micheal Morpurgo

This diary was a remarkable find in a rubbish heap in a street in Paris. It shows the events from a soliders eyes in World War 1.



ARCHIE'S WAR

What is was like to be a 10 year old child in WW1.
Done throughout the war through the eyes of a child using scrapbooking, comic, doodles, letters, thoughts and jokes.



YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO BE IN THE TRENCHES IN WW1

About the first month of WW1 August 1914.

It describes the opening events of the conflict of the first great war.
